Speaker Bio: Alena is the Co-founder and Technical Director of S3 Collective, a nonprofit organization committed to advancing the cannabis, hemp, and other botanical industries through collaboration, education, and standardization. She has nearly a decade of experience managing one of the nation’s first cannabis testing laboratories and implementing quality management systems (QMS) in the cannabis and hemp industries. Alena is the chair of the Laboratory Subcommittee of ASTM International’s Committee D37 and co-chair of the National Cannabis Laboratory Council (NCLC). She has also led several marijuana rulemaking groups in Colorado on topics such as QMS, sampling, and process validation and is a former chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) of the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA). Before entering the cannabis industry, she worked in biochemistry and neuroscience labs performing drug discovery research at Florida Atlantic University, Envoy Therapeutics, and the University of Colorado-Anschutz. Alena has a MS in Biomedical Sciences and a BS in Biology from Florida Atlantic University.

During this seminar I will be performing a sound bath that encompasses the entire room. This entails playing a large gong, Tibetan singing bowls, large crystal bowls, crystal gem bowls and other instruments.  I will also walk amongst the audience to provide a more direct experience.

Sound baths enhance the delta and theta brain waves, and through years of performing sound baths I’ve learned that it is possible to achieve very deep states of relaxation and meditation.  The sound envelops the entire person effecting not only their brain waves but their aura as well.

Testing for Psilocybin Potency & Extraction Efficiencies

Presentation Abstract:
Testing for psilocybin is a complex process. The potency of magic mushrooms can vary widely from batch to batch and even mushroom to mushroom. In addition, there are numerous entourage compounds beyond psilocybin that are believed to affect the psychedelic experience. Dan Huson, Psilocybin Consultant and Owner of Rose City Laboratories, will be discussing the state of the art in lab testing and the role of measuring the entourage effects. Dan has recently assisted in authoring several new studies, including extraction efficiency of ground Psilocybe Cubensis in water at different temperatures and extraction times, shelf-life studies, and Lemon Tekking potency. These and other R&D topics will be included in Dan’s discussions on psilocybin testing. Rose City Labs was the first fully licensed Laboratory for Psilocybin testing.

Legalization of psilocybin in CO focuses only on facilitator-lead Hero Dose treatments. We think it’s irresponsible to start everyone wishing to try psilocybin at 25mg. To encourage the State to allow self-administered microdosing, we put together this pilot safety study, using just 1-5 mg psilocybin per 70 kg and QEEG for objective data.
