Miguel Caríllo

Wirikuta Preservation Project

Presentation Abstract:
The Wixárika Nation is one of the last Indigenous tribes in México to preserve their Pre-Columbion traditions & culture. Their entire calendar year is centered around ceremony and offerings relevant to the cycles of nature & keeping things in balance for future generations. Their way of life has evolved for thousands of years around a powerful cactus most commonly known as peyote. They do not advocate for casual use of this cactus, but rather they have a deep connection to the healing capacity of this plant in ritual & ceremony. They have a reciprocal way of keeping the land in harmony by only harvesting at certain times and giving back to the land in specific ways.

Testing for Psilocybin Potency & Extraction Efficiencies

Presentation Abstract:
Testing for psilocybin is a complex process. The potency of magic mushrooms can vary widely from batch to batch and even mushroom to mushroom. In addition, there are numerous entourage compounds beyond psilocybin that are believed to affect the psychedelic experience. Dan Huson, Psilocybin Consultant and Owner of Rose City Laboratories, will be discussing the state of the art in lab testing and the role of measuring the entourage effects. Dan has recently assisted in authoring several new studies, including extraction efficiency of ground Psilocybe Cubensis in water at different temperatures and extraction times, shelf-life studies, and Lemon Tekking potency. These and other R&D topics will be included in Dan’s discussions on psilocybin testing. Rose City Labs was the first fully licensed Laboratory for Psilocybin testing.

Speaker Bio:
Dan Huson – Owner of Rose City Laboratories, currently the only fully licensed and accredited Lab to test Psilocybin. Dan is a seasoned and respected industry thought leader. His career has been rooted in improving ownership, integrity, and accountability. You won’t meet a more interesting and intuitive leader with a genuine trustworthiness his team admires. Previously, Dan worked at Boeing for (23 years) as well as a pioneer in opening one of the first medicinal cannabis dispensaries in Oregon. His entrepreneurial mind (which does not have an off switch) eventually pivoted towards laboratory testing, analytics, and accountability toward home health and wellness. This has led to the expansion into environmental test services and most recently, Psilocybin Testing including R & D. He has successfully owned and operated Rose City Labs in PDX since 2012, and now embraces a brand-new lab which opened in 2023 in Bend, OR.
